I returned to studying Spanish in Sept/Oct of 2021 after twenty years. It’s been a while now since I restarted so it’s a good time to review and regroup before moving forward.
The Good
I’ve taken Baselang conversation classes fairly consistently since I signed up in December 2021. I take notes during the class which helps to reinforce what I learn. Although some of my favorite teachers have left Baselang I eventually find other teachers that are interesting to get to know. I’ve learned so much about South America.
I still really enjoy learning Spanish. That’s the most important thing.
The Bad
I’ve spent less time listening to podcasts in the past six months. I really do enjoy them but I end up spending my time doing other things. I’ll select a couple to focus on and get back into it.
I’ve also spent less time using spanishdict.com and Clozemaster. I think I’ll focus on the podcasts as it’s more interesting than reviewing grammar.
I haven’t been reviewing the notes from my conversation classes as much recently. I often have to relearn the same thing several times. During my first year few months with Baselang I spent a lot of time reviewing my notes. I’ll get back into this.
I haven’t written a blog post in almost a year. I really should as it helps to review what I’m learning. There are so many different tools these days that it’s easy to get lost. It’s best to review and focus on those that are the most helpful and interesting.
Regroup
Podcasts: I’ll focus on two for now:
- Caso 63 a fictional story
- A Fondo Con María Jimena Duzán daily news podcast
- Radio Ambulante a large variety of in-depth stories
Baselang: I’ll commit to reviewing my conversation notes.
Blog posts: even if I only write one post per month that’s enough for now.
